Home House London Installation
Several of Kate's large paintings have been installed at Home House on Portman Square on 6 month loan, in collaboration with art consultancies After Nyne Contemporary, A Space for Art and Home House.
Now an 'iconic and eccentric' private member's club, Home House is located in an historic Georgian townhouse overlooking London's Portman Square. "In1775 Robert Adam, one of the most celebrated architects of his day, was appointed to complete the interior of [Home House] in the sumptuous Neo-Classical style and [it] is acknowledged as Robert Adam’s finest surviving London town house. The interior is conceived as a series of grand reception rooms, beginning with a typically austere hall, leading to one of the most breathtaking “tour de forces” in European architecture: Adam’s Imperial staircase, which rises through the entire height of the house to a glass dome, revealing the sky above." The juxtaposition of Kate's modern abstract works in this neoclassical home, (in)famous for its salons and guests is striking. To view the paintings please contact A Space For Art for an appointment.
Devon Guest Residency - Coombe Farm Studios
Kate was guest resident tutor in intuitive abstract painting in late March at rural Coombe Farm Studios, Dittisham, Devon. This highly regarded rural arts centre in a stunning part of southern England draws exciting and experienced practicing artists as guest lecturers in painting, print making, pottery and other arts disciplines, including film, music and poetry. Undertaken in an immersive, soothing atmosphere in the hills of the countryside within a beautiful complex of old stone farm buildings and replete with natural surroundings, the course is so conducive to thoughtful work and connections. The atmosphere is relaxed but deeply rooted, with gorgeous handcrafted meals taken together also helping the participants delve deeper into their individual work. A unique place that cannot be easily described in words or pictures.
At Kate's course in March, attendees travelled from as far away as Melbourne and Amsterdam to work with her over several days of live painting, demonstrations and intense and enriching work. As the courses are strictly limited in size and often sell out it is always a really exciting and thought provoking period for Kate's ongoing practice and a very big change from London and studio life. Kate will return to Coombe Farm Studios in late June/early July for her only other 2024 course.
